NEW MEDIA CONTENT PRODUCTION
Colorado Gems Road Trip Series
Client: Colorado Ski Country, USA
Date: Fall 2011SMP teamed up with Colorado Ski Country USA to produce a series of webisodes about a 9-day tour of the Colorado Gem resorts. We arranged filmers and athletes, established the schedule and produced the video. We distributed the videos both on Freeskier and Snowboard’s websites, and on the magazines’ podcasts.
General Snus Athlete Profile Videos
Client: General Snus
Date: Spring 2010When General Snus wanted to break into the snwosports market, it turned to SMP’s all-around expertise in ski, snowboard and custom video production. SMP helped General secure an athlete team, then we produced 8 athlete profiles videos for General Snus in spring 2010. We contracted cinematographers, directed content and created a motion graphic intro for branding.
We circulated the videos on both of our websites, and via both podcasts.
“You’re Gonna Love It!” Video Series
Client: Vail Resorts
Date: Fall 2010, Fall 2011In fall 2009 Vail needed a viral component to compliment the corporate marketing strategies for its premiere season pass deal, the Epic Pass. The resort turned to SMP for a custom video solution that it couldn’t produce in-house. SMP came up with a informercial-satire, employed Keystone-based athlete Colby West as the on-screen talent and came up with a viral hit, “The Epic Pass, You’re Gonna Love It.” Both Vail and SMP properties released the video through our networks and through YouTube.
Monster Energy Drink Team Shoot, Print/Video Combination
Client: Monster Energy Drinks
Date: Sping 2010, Fall 2011Last spring Monster Energy Drink brought team SMP to Squaw for the company’s year-end team shoot over Cinco de Mayo. Squaw’s park crew built a massive custom feature, and we spent four days on snow with the athletes, shooting stills and video for a multi-platform presentation. SMP produced web content during the shoot, and we will release a team video for use on podcast and web, and an eight-page, pull-out poster with a print story that runs in Freeskier’s February 2010 issue. The resulting multi-platform push built brand equity for Monster in snowsports and created recognition for team athletes.
Winter Dew Tour coverage
Client: Alli Sports
Dates: 2009, 2010, 2011SMP is the exclusive ski media partner for the Winter Dew Tour. For each of the three stops, SMP creates approsimately 6-7 videos, ranging from rough POV course previews to polished athlete profiles, with video distributed on Freeskier.com, Dew Tour sites and some TV coverage. Last year, we created a total of 20 videos that appeared on our sites and on Winter Dew Tour’s sites, and provided the most comprehensive video coverage of action sports’ premiere winter competition tour.

Local Lange Girl
Client: Lange Boots
Dates: 2008-2011Four years running, Local Lange Girl has been a knockout success for Lange Ski Boots. The company wanted to bring their classic branding campaign into the social media generation, and SMP delivered with Local Lange Girl. SMP designed and built a Lange-branded user-generated content microsite that allows entrants to create user profiles, upload photos and write bios. The platform also offers community voting.

Salomon Exposed Contest

Dates: Fall 2010For Fall 2010, Salomon and SMP concepted a ski shop-based photo contest to reach Salomon’s most vital audience, the ski shop employees. We designed and built Salomon Exposed, using our proprietary community photo contest platform. Roll out was fast and efficient, and the contest generated buzz among the shops Salomon wanted to reach. SMP handled everything from legal to design to code to execution.
Vitamin Water Am Throwdown Contest
Clients: Vitamin Water, YES Snowboards, The House Boardshop, Smith, Woodward-at-Copper
Dates: Winter 2010/11The Am Throwdown contest was a amateur, grassroots video contest run on Snowboard-mag.com. We concepted the contest, built the creative and branding packages, and managed all execution. More than 40 amateur riders uploaded videos of themselves, and five earned a trip to Copper Mountain, CO, to compete for a $5,000 cash prize.

Ski UT Facebook Contests
Client: Ski Utah
Dates: Fall 2011SMP leveraged our 80,000+ Facebook fans for a series of contests this fall hosted in conjunction with Ski Utah. We built Facebook tabs on our pages and for Ski Utah’s Facebook fan page, then gathered email addresses during the entry process at Ski Utah’s homepage. As a result of the contest, Ski Utah got over 1,000 new email addresses and hundreds of new fans on their Facebook page.
CUSTOM PRINT PUBLISHING
WB Magazine
WB Magazine was a full-service custom print magazine for one of North America’s leading ski resorts, Whistler/Blackcomb. Storm Mountain Publishing handled the custom print process from story conception to the printing press. Whistler and SMP jointly created the content schedule, then we used our deep contacts in the Whistler community to soure all photograhy and writing for the magazine. SMP managed the art direction, editing, deadline schedule and all production duties. The end product: an 84-page custom magazine that tells the Whistler brand in an engaging and lasting print magazine format. WB was mailed to subcribers of Freeskier and Snowboard magazines and Whistler’s lists, and used by Whistler/Blackcomb at other Intrawest resorts and travel shows.
